RoleSenior Tooling Engineer – provides sourcing and technical leadership in a cross-functional team environment, including strategic planning, injection molding expertise, supplier selection, cost and capital management, risk assessment, and mitigation.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage supplier interactions for injection molding issues, including tool design and development, tool down situations, design for manufacturability, and process-related issues.
- Review drawings, analyze tooling, and recommend improvements to increase productivity, quality, and manufacturability.
- Develop guidelines for injection mold tooling; work with Supplier Quality to establish procedures for qualifying injection molded components in clean and non-clean environments.
- Provide injection molding knowledge and market expertise to cross-functional teams to ensure continuity of supply, cost, and delivery.
- Lead injection molded supplier transfers to improve quality.
- Direct efforts to prevent and resolve complex supply chain problems while mitigating risk.
- Establish and manage supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supply, technology alignment, and risk mitigation.
- Comply with and help develop Sourcing & Supplier Quality procedures.
- Support ISO, ASI, and other certifications deemed necessary by the business.
- Collaborate with CPC QA to plan and execute part validations using IQ, OQ, PQ methods.
- Work with CPC Product Management and Design Engineering to integrate product requirements into new tooling initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or 7+ years of technical experience with injection molded processes.
- 2+ years’ experience working with injection molded components.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and advanced Excel.
- Experience viewing mold designs/part designs in CAD software (preferred).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to work one-on-one with suppliers, business units, engineering, and program sponsors.
- Self-starter with problem-solving ability; analytical and creative.
- Strong attention to detail and proven accuracy; ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
Ability to travel domestically approximately 10-20% of the time.
