Position: CV Sonographer (Non-Exempt)

Overview

Performs cardiovascular ultrasounds according to protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Performs sonographic examinations on all types of patients with expertise in the areas of echo cardiographic and vascular flow studies.
  • In a caring and compassionate manner, positions and immobilizes patients as necessary to achieve imaging of the requested region and or function.
  • Consistently selects and operates ultrasound equipment according to departmental standards in order to obtain optimum quality images.
  • Accurately identifies all ultrasound images.
  • Processes all necessary hard copy images according to standards.
  • Completes all examinations in a timely manner with close consideration given to patient scheduled time.
  • Demonstrates expertise when required in the preparation and assistance in special and/or invasive procedures
  • Effectively communicates comprehensive and accurate sonographer Interpretations.
  • Accurately and consistently obtains patient history and clinical data
  • Records technical impressions and data documentation completely and accurately in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Practices appropriate nursing procedures and provides quality patient care.
  • Provides personalized care by showing compassion, respect, and responsiveness to the needs of the patient.
  • Practices sterile technique in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Adheres to all infection control guidelines.
  • Regularly renews CPR certification prior to expiration.
  • Properly disposes of soiled linen, trash and hazardous waste according to hospital policy.
  • Completes all Epic and Heart Suite responsibilites.
  • Ensures order entry and scheduling are completed appropriately in EPIC.
  • Ensures patients are checked in, exmas begun and ended, templates started, and charges are entered in EPIC.
  • Ensures studeis are correctly sent to Heart Suite or Ultravisual PACS.
  • Ensures control sheets are placed in the appropriate reading physician's box.
  • Ensures pediatric echos are logged in the correct log book.
  • Ensures critical value notifications are recorded in the appropriate log book.
  • Plans and organizes professional services.
  • Reviews all assigned requisitions for accuracy and applicable clinical information.
  • Prepares room and equipment in advance and ensures that assigned area is kept clean, orderly, and stocked.
  • Maintains current certification of professional registry if part of the acrredited lab.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.
  • Maintains current certification of professional registry.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and behaviors of specific age groups to include Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the changes associated with aging.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care based upon physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and other age related factors.
  • Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient needs.
  • Qualifications

    Education:

    Graduate of an approved school of ultrasound or on the job training. Registered or registry eligible in ultrasound.

    Licensure:
    Registered or registry eligible for echo and vascular ultrasound.

    Experience:

    1 year of experience preferred.

    Certifications:

    Registered or registry eligible for echo and vascular ultrasound.

    Other: CPR certification required.
