Job Overview
Position: WFBMC Lab Outreach Services Phlebotomist (Full time,40 hrs).
Location:
Winston Campus. Shift: Monday–Friday8:00–17:00 with weekend rotation. Pay range: $19.80–$29.70 per hour.
- Adhere to medical center standards to promote a cooperative work environment.
- Assure accurate and timely collection of blood specimens per departmental practices.
- Assure accurate identification and delivery of patient samples to appropriate lab sections.
- Follow proper safety and identification procedures with patients and/or specimens under any circumstance.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of phlebotomy by serving as a resource to staff and applying knowledge in daily routines.
- Improve work skills through self‑study and continuing education.
- Contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department.
- Protect self, coworkers and facility by following policies to prevent the spread of blood borne/airborne diseases.
- Exhibit professional image of laboratories per hospital and professional society standards.
- Provide age‑appropriate specimen collection per age‑specific guidelines.
- Maintain inventory and supplies related to job activities and monitor expiration dates.
- Perform clerical functions: entry of lab orders into LIS, printing and delivery of reports, filing reports, preparing requisitions, and entering information into laboratory or hospital computer system.
- Perform specimen processing per laboratory policies.
- May perform waived testing.
- May be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Two‑year age‑appropriate phlebotomy experience preferred.
- CPR certification.
- Phlebotomy certification (ASCP, AMT, ASPT or equivalent from an accredited program).
- Knowledge of safety and identification procedures.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and team‑building skills.
