To supervise, assign, and review the work of staff responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the City’s Water Distribution and Sewer Collection Departments; to oversee and participate in all work activities; and to perform a variety of technical tasks related to the assigned area of responsibility.
Essential Functions and Duties- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Water Distribution and Sewer Collection Departments.
- Participate in the preparation and administration of the Water Distribution and Sewer Collection Departments budget; submit budget recommendations; complete purchase requisitions; monitor expenditures.
- Address customer concerns, questions, and complaints and provide information.
- Review various analyses and reports and make recommendations; prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
- Participate in staff selection; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
- Ensure State and EPA water quality standards and guidelines are met; conduct public inspections of facilities as required.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; apply approved policies and procedures.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of five (5) years of work experience in water distribution and sewer collection, including two years of supervisory or lead experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Possession or ability to obtain a Water and Wastewater Operator License Class A issued by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality.
- Operations, services and activities of water distribution and sewer collection systems.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of water distribution and sewer collection systems.
- Principles of municipal budget preparation and control.
- Read and interpret chemical analysis, maps, water line diagrams and blueprints.
- Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation.
- Supervise, organize and review the work of lower level staff.
- Familiarity with pertinent federal, state, or local laws, regulations and ordinances.
- Respond to and solve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Job Requirements
Stand and lift up to 25 pounds; walk and lift up to 50 pounds; sit and work outdoors; use hands to handle and feel; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; talk and hear; and taste and smell.

This job is classified as a “safety sensitive” position as defined by federal and state drug and alcohol testing regulations. The employee will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing; marijuana is included in the drug panel. Possession of a medical marijuana license does not exempt the employee from testing or the consequences of a positive test.
