Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration

Position Summary

The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration, is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial settings. This role involves interpreting technical schematics, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Technician supports preventive maintenance programs, leads field teams, and communicates effectively with customers and management. Operating company vehicles and participating in on-call rotations are essential.

The position requires adherence to established policies and standards while contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

What you'll do
  • Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and control panels, ensuring compliance with building codes and operational standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain and repair refrigeration units such as racks, walk-ins, and supermarket systems.
  • Conduct inspections and ensure adherence to OSHA and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
  • Lead and mentor field teams on technical procedures and safety practices.
  • Manage service calls, coordinate with external providers, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions.
What you'll bring
  • Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings.
  • Strong ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and building codes to ensure accurate system configuration.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
  • Skilled in operating heavy machinery and company vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Effective communication skills to explain technical issues and collaborate with customers and team members.
  • Ability to lead field teams and mentor less-experienced technicians.
  • Experience managing service calls, inventory, and documentation using digital tools.
Minimum Qualifications

Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

  • Option 1:
    Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
  • Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
  • Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
  • Where required, HVAC-R/Mechanical Journeyman.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
  • Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical HVAC/R program.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software.
  • Mechanical license in the city/state where the job is located.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
  • No serious traffic violations in the last three years.
  • Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
