The Heavy Equipment Water Truck Driver plays a vital role in supporting grading and excavation operations by controlling dust and maintaining safe working conditions on construction sites. This position is responsible for operating a large water truck to spray water throughout job sites while working closely with crew members to support daily production goals. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and willing to assist with various construction tasks as needed.
JOBDUTIES & REQUIREMENTS
- Safely operate a heavy equipment water truck equipped with a large water tank and spray system.
- Apply water throughout construction sites to suppress dust and reduce airborne hazards.
- Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance checks on equipment.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and management to support project objectives.
- Work alongside grading and excavation crews on a variety of production tasks.
- Assist with general labor duties as needed to support the crew and project completion.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Report equipment issues, hazards, or safety concerns promptly.
- Travel and work out of town as required by project assignments.
- Work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, swing shifts, and night shifts when necessary.
- Knowledge of safe water truck operation and dust control practices.
- Understanding of construction site safety requirements.
- Ability to read, comprehend, research, and order parts when needed.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and maintenance practices.
- Experience operating additional heavy equipment such as bulldozers, loaders, and excavators is preferred.
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Current Medical Examiner's Certificate.
- Tanker Endorsement required.
- Good driving and safety record.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively with supervisors, managers, and fellow employees.
- Willingness to perform heavy labor and other assigned duties as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to travel and work away from home when required.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
- Regularly enter and exit trucks and heavy equipment.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more with assistance when necessary.
- Work in environments with exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and changing weather conditions.
- Maintain focus and awareness while operating equipment for extended periods.
