We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join a growing organization in the greater Philadelphia area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of real estate properties
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Review monthly work papers, journal entries, and bank reconciliations prepared by the accounting team.
  • Perform and review allocations of shared corporate expenses across multiple properties.
  • Review and reconcile corporate credit card activity and related expense allocations.
  • Monitor real estate taxes, insurance, replacement reserves, and other property-level financial obligations.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to review, process, and record payroll activity.
  • Review vendor payments to ensure appropriate authorization and accounting treatment.
  • Assist with property and investment fund distributions.
  • Support quarterly property valuation processes.
  • Prepare and review audited property-level financial statements while coordinating with external auditors.
  • Mentor, develop, and oversee members of the accounting and accounts payable teams.
  • Help strengthen internal controls, improve accounting processes, and support implementation of new technologies.
  • Partner closely with Asset Management and Property Management teams by providing financial analysis and operational support.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive real estate accounting experience
    .
  • Public accounting experience is preferred.
  • Fund accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience with Yardi and Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Solid understanding of real estate operations, property management, and investment accounting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
