Job Description

This role oversees complex healthcare construction projects with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems from preconstruction through closeout. The MEP Healthcare Construction Project Manager drives project planning, execution, and delivery while ensuring strict compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control requirements, and life safety standards. The position requires strong financial and scheduling expertise, proven leadership, and the ability to maintain effective communication and relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

+ Lead healthcare construction projects from preconstruction planning through construction, commissioning, and final closeout.

+ Manage project budgets, cost controls, and financial performance to ensure projects are delivered within approved financial parameters.

+ Develop, monitor, and adjust project schedules to keep work on track and meet key milestones and completion dates.

+ Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives to ensure alignment with project goals and requirements.

+ Direct and manage the submittal process, including review and approval of RFIs, shop drawings, and related documentation.

+ Utilize project management and construction software tools such as Procore, Plan Grid, and MS Project to track progress, documentation, and communication.

+ Ensure full compliance with healthcare regulations, ICRA protocols, infection control planning, and life safety standards throughout the project.

+ Manage construction activities in and around occupied healthcare facilities, minimizing disruption and maintaining safe working conditions.

+ Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, providing regular updates, clear communication, and responsive issue resolution.

+ Collaborate with design and engineering teams to support constructability reviews and resolve design-related challenges.

+ Lead project teams by setting expectations, providing guidance, and promoting a collaborative and solution-oriented work environment.

+ Identify, prepare, and manage change orders, ensuring accurate documentation and alignment with contractual obligations.

+ Monitor project risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect schedule, budget, and quality.

+ Maintain organized project records, reports, and documentation in accordance with company standards and client requirements.

Essential Skills

+ 5-10 years of project management experience with a general contractor or construction manager.

+ Demonstrated expertise in construction project management, including planning, execution, and closeout.

+ Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and forecasting for construction projects.

+ Advanced scheduling skills, with experience developing and managing detailed construction schedules.

+ Hands-on experience managing RFIs, change orders, submittals, and shop drawings.

+ Proficiency with construction and project management software such as Procore, Plan Grid, and MS Project.

+ Experience in healthcare construction, including familiarity with the unique requirements of healthcare facilities.

+ Knowledge of healthcare regulations, ICRA protocols, and life safety standards applicable to construction projects.

+ Ability to coordinate and manage subcontractors, consultants, and client stakeholders effectively.

+ Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide project teams and drive results.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly to diverse stakeholders.

+ Solid understanding of mechanical systems within commercial and healthcare construction environments.

+ Experience working on commercial construction projects involving mechanical systems.

+ Background in engineering or construction management is beneficial.

+ Knowledge of infection control planning and best practices for work in occupied facilities.

+ Experience working within occupied healthcare environments and planning work to minimize disruption.

Work Environment

The role operates in a dynamic healthcare construction environment that includes both office-based planning and on-site project oversight.
