American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level III night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and current NRP certification.
Requirements- Active PA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand (pending licensure not accepted)
- Current certifications: BLS and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of NICU RN experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Core skills required: IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, central line blood draws, central line/implanted line care, starting and maintaining IVs, UAC/UVC management, neonatal dosage calculations, APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, phototherapy, bubble CPAP, HFNC, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), respiratory distress syndrome management, suctioning (ETT/NT), oxygen delivery systems, blood glucose monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia management, breastfeeding support and breast milk handling, feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), NG/NJ tube placement and management, isolation precautions/PPE, neonatal sepsis workup, and patient/family teaching
- Preferred skills include: arterial line management, central line placement, UAC management, developmental care, assist with lumbar puncture, neonatal abstinence syndrome, therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket), high frequency ventilation, chest tube management, nitric oxide (iNO), oscillator management, meconium aspiration, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, insulin administration, attending high-risk deliveries, and NICU IV level experience
- Level III NICU at an acute care teaching hospital with 370 staffed beds
- Cares for neonates as early as 22+ weeks gestation; no surgeries or ECMO performed on this unit
- Patient population includes neonates across all gestational age ranges (< 24 weeks through > 34 weeks)
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- May float to the Bryn Mawr Campus
- Charting system:
Epic (experience required) - First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility may be subject to a different pay differential
- Candidates who have previously worked at any Main Line Health location should disclose the location(s) and dates of prior employment
- Scrub color:
Navy Blue - Orientation modules are completed prior to the start date and take approximately 4 hours
