We are a national staffing firm with an array of Fortune 500 clients and are currently seeking a Mapping Autonomous Vehicle Operator for a prominent, well‑known food delivery client of ours that is expanding their business. This position is a Driving Role and is based out of Greater Phoenix Area, AZ. Details for the position are as follows:

Overview
  • This team is responsible for mapping the Greater Phoenix area using a dedicated mapping vehicle in support of autonomous technology initiatives.
  • This role supports test mapping for autonomous robots and related emerging technologies (similar in concept to vehicles operated by companies such as Waymoor Google mapping vehicles).
  • Team members work four 10-hour shifts each week, with the vehicle serving as their primary workstation (03:00 PM – 01:30 AM MST, Wednesday – Saturday (Weekly Off Days = Sunday – Tuesday).
  • Their mission is to ensure all mapping tickets are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule, while maintaining strict adherence to road safety protocols and structured operational processes.
  • We are rebuilding this small, specialized team of four highly capable individuals who will play a critical role in delivering high-quality mapping data and supporting broader operational goals.
  • Operators pick up their assigned vehicle at Tempe HQ. If issues arise, the vehicle must be brought to the service team. If the vehicle is out of service, team members may report to one of the Arizona lab locations (PHX0, PHX1, PHX3, Chandler) based on business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • 1+ years of driving experience (Door Dash, Uber, Lyft, Waymo, DOT, Google Maps, Tesla, Electric or Hybrid Vehicles, Etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR / NDA).
  • Any experience in the technology industry or general interest in technology, robotics, mapping, or autonomous systems.
  • Experience with data tracking, logging, or structured documentation (inventory, school coursework, checklists, data, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail, etc.).
  • Experience with any ticketing/workflow tools such as JIRA, Service Now, Zendesk, etc. (preferred).
  • Strong organizational and process-oriented skills with demonstrated adherence to structured procedures.
  • Experience with tracking systems, GPS, scheduling tools (Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook Calendar etc.), or workflow management platforms.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting basic technical issues (turning on/off for restart, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills.
Preferred
  • Driver with a technical or technically focused background.
  • Interest in autonomous systems and emerging mobility technology.
  • Currently studying or previously studied GIS, mapping, robotics, or any related technical fields.
  • Experience in data collection or mapping-related environments.
  • Background in automotive dealerships with electric or hybrid vehicles is a plus.
  • High attention to detail with strong adherence to process.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate test vehicles across diverse environments, road types, and weather conditions while strictly adhering to all local traffic laws and safety standards.
  • Perform route-based driving, short engineering test drives, and transport/delivery driving.
  • Support test mapping initiatives for autonomous robotic systems and emerging technologies.
  • Follow detailed instructions to prepare vehicles and components for testing.
  • Collaborate with fellow operators and engineers to execute structured test plans.
  • Maintain strong focus on test objectives and communicate clearly to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate execution.
  • Produce accurate, detailed, and comprehensive test reports.
  • Conduct data tracking and logging throughout mapping and testing activities.
  • Upload data disks and support data transfer workflows.
  • Coordinate logistical aspects of testing, including tool availability, resource planning, and location readiness.
  • Conduct quality assurance evaluations assessing functionality, performance, drivability, and overall user experience.
  • Drive safely in daylight, darkness, and adverse weather conditions.
  • Complete all assigned tickets and tasks within designated time frames.
