Position: Superior Court Courtroom Clerk I
Location: Holbrook

Summary

Under limited supervision, performs clerical work of moderate difficulty in the recording and processing of court proceedings; performs related duties as assigned.

Promotion to Superior Courtroom Clerk II

A Superior Court Docket Clerk I who demonstrates proficiency in their duties may be promoted to the position of Superior Court Docket Clerk II after one (1) year of service.

Essential Job Functions
  • Takes and transcribes dictation at court proceedings.
  • Provides customer service through personal, telephonic and electronic communication.
  • Attends all court hearings and determines, summarizes, and records the points and decision reached in the course of the proceedings.
  • Prepares and submits Motor Vehicle Department abstracts and DPS disposition reports using computer applications.
  • Keeps records of matters taken under advisement to assure Judge’s ruling within legally set time limitations.
  • Coordinates calendars and schedules with Judicial Assistants.
  • Updates Court and Judges’ calendars based on Court orders.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information as set forth by rule and statute.
  • Summarizes and prepares court proceedings in minute entry form.
  • Prepares formal orders and documents for judicial review and entry.
  • Processes and establishes a chain-of-custody for admitted exhibits.
  • Receives and files legal documents in paper and electronic format.
  • Transfers paper documents to digital format.
  • Facilitates public access to judicial records.
  • Performs document certification on behalf of the Clerk of the Court.
  • Issues warrants and writs as ordered by the Superior Court.
  • Administers oaths and acts as a judicial notary for the Superior Court.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • Recognizes and is familiar with the duties performed in the various departments within Clerk of Court.
  • Performs other related duties as required, consistent with assignment. All assignments are at the discretion of the Clerk of the Superior Court.

  • Knowledge of modern office and clerical practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business English.
  • Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.

  • Skill in dictation and transcription of live events.
  • Ability to adhere to courtroom etiquette.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of court matters.
  • Ability to perform complex paperwork processing and calendaring tasks with speed and accuracy in a courtroom environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain workflow.
  • Ability to type accurately.
  • Ability to accurately maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to work safely and support the culture of workplace safety.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
