Job Description

Reports To: High School Principal

Classification: Seasonal/Temporary

Status: Part Time Seasonal

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Description:

Operate and monitor auditorium systems, and backstage activites in support of events and productions. Train and supervise auditorium staff. Ensure the safety of staff, students, participants and patrons. Properly utilize District facilities, equipment and resources. Help prevent incidents by remaining alert and enforcing all safety guidelines. Follows directions and the highest level of safe practices. Provides high quality of service and meets the expectations of performers, production staff and patrons.

Essential Job Elements:

  • Support and work effectively with the participants, performers, supervisors and other staff.
  • Lead and supervise the operation, maintenance and safeguarding of the technical assets of the auditorium, including lighting, sound, communications equipment, video equipment, rigging stage facilities and the fly gallery.
  • Assists with the staging of school productions, programs and community events.
  • Advise the principal of problems, system malfunctions, safety concerns or other issues that may adversely affect events or the proper operation of auditorium systems.
  • Prepares auditorium for all programs and performances.
  • Ensures control rooms, equipment access areas and backstage areas are maintained in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Performs all duties with a high level of competence to ensure quality productions and programs.
  • Be proactive and recognize potential hazards or problems before they result in an emergency.
  • Provide appropriate care for the safekeeping and protection of District equipment, tools, facilities and other assets.
  • Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state and local codes, regulations and requirements.
  • Supports with integrity the mission, vision, goals and positive culture of Joseph City Schools.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Communication, interpersonal and physical skills sufficiently effective to perform assigned duties.
  • Ability to perform a supervisory role.

Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus and to function under both dim and bright lighting conditions. Long periods of acute visual and mental attention.

Working Conditions:

Works near moving mechanical parts and both high and low voltage electrical equipment. Climbs ladders, steep stairways and works on catwalks and platforms high above the floor. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally moderate to high. May be exposed to stressful situations as a result of rehearsal and performance requirements. Caution necessary to avoid harm from misuse of equipment and loud noise.

The employee must be able to closely adhere to duty schedules with time constraints and interact with students, employees, and patrons.
