Duties
* Assist in the development of computer hardware and software for computer-based systems.
* Assist in the development of test programs and diagnostic procedures for computer hardware and software.
* Assist in identifying host computer requirements to produce or maintain computer command and control systems.
* Evaluate system security requirements to aid in the design of a system that will resist established or projected threats.
* Analyze output data to ensure accuracy of computer software and compliance of hardware operations with design specifications. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
* The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion related to frequent inspections and surveys of work spaces and networks.
* Inspections require a substantial amount of walking, standing, bending, crouching, climbing, stretching, or similar movements to inspect work spaces or network projects.
* The incumbent may be required to lift up to 35 lbs.
* A pre-placement medical examination is required.
* This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Engineering and Technical Management certification within 60 months as of entrance on duty. Degree:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in computer science or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the development of computer hardware and software for computer-based systems; or, assisting in the development of test programs and diagnostic procedures for computer hardware and software; or, analyzing output data to ensure accuracy of computer software and compliance of hardware operations with design specifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education:
One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: computer science, mathematics or statistics. OR Superior Academic Achievement:
Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.). In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above.
