Description
This position is responsible for the High‑Quality Assembly of Homes within the Committed Building Schedule while achieving High Customer Satisfaction in an Accident‑Free Environment.
- Participate as an active member of the WRH Construction Team, attending all department meetings and providing insight on improving department performance and customer satisfaction to the Construction Manager.
- Understand and explain company key drivers and compensation system.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Show basic technology skills, including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Outlook (email), and experience with a residential production scheduling system and warranty work order tracking system.
- Know the plans, municipal requirements, inspector nuances, soil conditions, drainage patterns and related issues for the project.
- Develop an eye for value engineering and contemplate “Faster‑Cheaper‑Better” through each phase of assembly.
- Read and comprehend detailed construction blueprints, specifications and development drawings.
- Inspect the job at least daily, preferably twice (morning and afternoon), to ensure each phase is finished accurately and completely.
- Avoid “come‑backs” and maintain a positive schedule‑focused attitude.
- Create a sense of urgency so that jobs stay on schedule, which benefits profitability and attracts high‑quality staffing.
- Build the Customer’s home the way it should be built, keeping it clean throughout the process.
- Ensure the home is 100% completed and showroom clean for the initial homeowner walk‑through.
- Set the bar high for job safety, perform weekly inspections, maintain proper documentation and conduct construction safety meetings, enforcing Safety Policies and the Violation escalation process.
- Recognize that accidents cost staff, schedule, and can result in fines, and strive to positively affect people’s lives and families.
- Take ownership of the project, communicating with vendors that quality, cleanliness and commitment to schedule are paramount.
- Serve as an example, setting a high standard for all vendors in the project.
- Understand that the Vendor Agreement is a specific legal obligation, fully comprehend each vendor’s Scope of Work and daily clean‑up commitment.
- Ensure vendors commit to fully staffing the job and advancing toward their scheduled completion days.
- Complete the 60‑Day service work in one trip (inclusive of inspections).
- Assertive, tenacious, meets deadlines consistently and can motivate others to act.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Thorough understanding of all stages of the construction process, including rough and trim.
- Thorough understanding of local, state and federal building codes.
- Thorough understanding of OSHA and EPA guidelines.
- Ability to read and comprehend detailed construction blueprints, specifications and development drawings.
- Basic technology skills, including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Outlook and experience with a residential production scheduling system.
- Experience in a production homebuilding environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Minimal travel required; employee must own or lease a truck, possess a valid driver’s license with insurance coverage.
- Employee must have a cell phone with a data package.
