Position Overview

The Construction Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the execution of projects managed by the Engineering Projects Group (EPG). This role supports project planning and execution by assisting with the development of work scopes, schedules, material coordination, and contractor oversight while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.

Working primarily in the field, the Construction Coordinator monitors project progress, coordinates with internal departments and external contractors, and ensures compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and applicable regulations. This position plays a key role in supporting project readiness, maintaining schedules, coordinating material deliveries, and facilitating communication between project stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate and monitor assigned engineering and construction projects to support safe, efficient, and timely execution.
  • Planning & Scheduling: Assist in developing project work scopes, schedules, cost quotations, and project readiness plans.
  • Material Coordination: Receive, inspect, and coordinate delivery of materials to the Engineering Projects Group laydown yard and project sites.
  • Contractor Oversight: Monitor contractor, vendor, and internal workforce performance to ensure work complies with project specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Project Execution: Track project progress, identify scheduling challenges, and support timely completion of assigned projects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate activities between Project Managers, Engineering, Operations, HSEC, Project Owners, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Safety & Compliance: Promote a safe work environment and ensure project activities comply with MSHA regulations, company policies, project requirements, and applicable safety and quality standards.
  • Communication: Provide regular project status updates, communicate schedule changes, identify issues, and assist with resolving project challenges.
  • Vendor Support: Assist with evaluating contractor and vendor performance and support the selection of qualified service providers.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve project execution, contractor performance, and construction processes.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate project records, field reports, delivery documentation, and construction-related records.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned in support of departmental and operational objectives.
Position Requirements Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in operations and maintenance supervision, construction, construction management, project management, or a related industrial environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project documentation.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent recordkeeping and documentation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of contractor management processes and supply chain controls.
  • Ability to identify project risks, scheduling constraints, and construction bottlenecks.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, engineering firms, architects, vendors, and other external partners.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction management, project management, or heavy industrial operations.
  • Experience supporting engineering or mining capital projects.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Systems for Management or similar project management systems.
  • Experience coordinating contractors within mining or heavy industrial environments.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • Work approximately 80% in the field and 20% in an office environment.
