Position: FT Instructional Multimedia Developer
Location: Village Meadows

Position Summary

The Instructional Multimedia Developer serves as the primary production specialist for the AI-Powered Success initiative and is responsible for collaborating with faculty and instructional designers to transform complex academic concepts into engaging, high-quality digital learning assets, focusing on the technical development of interactive "Drop-In Modules," micro credentials, and open educational resources (OER) using industry-standard multimedia tools.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops responsive, interactive, and visually engaging learning modules using tools such as Articulate 360 (Rise & Storyline); creates original instructional media, including custom graphics, animations, motion graphics, and video assets using industry-standard tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia)
  • Locates, curates, and edits existing open-source media and stock assets to enhance course content while ensuring copyright and attribute practice; packages and publishes content (e.g., SCORM, xAPI) for deployment into Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard) while maintaining platform-agnostic formats for OER distribution
  • Develops digital instructional materials in alignment with accessibility standards; applies Creative Commons licensing to developed materials and prepares finalized assets and source files for public dissemination in the "Rural AI Playbook" and Open Resource Library
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and department staff to translate academic content into effective digital learning experiences while preserving instructional intent and rigor; produces rapid prototypes, mockups, and sample interactions to support faculty review and iterative design
  • Maintains an organized repository of project assets and source files
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Digital Media, or a related field from an institution accredited by an institutional accrediting body of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience developing multimedia learning materials. Prior experience working in a higher education environment preferred.
  • Prior experience developing Open Educational Resources (OER) and applying Creative Commons licensing preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with college policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (ADA, Section 508, WCAG 2.1) and their application in digital learning design
  • Knowledge of generative AI tools (such as Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, and ChatGPT) to support content creation, media generation, and workflow optimization
  • Knowledge of HTML, basic web design principles, and Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard) including SCORM/xAPI standards
  • Knowledge of Open Educational Resources (OER), Creative Commons licensing, and copyright compliance
