Overview
Maricopa Smiles Dentistry and Orthodontics is seeking a Healthcare Coordinator (HC) to partner with supported Dentists to encourage patient commitment to start the best course of treatment with urgency. The role focuses on understanding and utilizing financial options to support case acceptance, educating patients on treatment choices, overcoming objections, and keeping Dentist schedules productive. The HC supports patients in a consultative and educational manner while promoting a Perfect Patient Experience (PPE) and creating Patients for Life (PFL).
Responsibilities- Models company culture, values, standards, and best operational practices based on the We Believe Behavioral Framework
- Gain a financial commitment from the patient to start the dentistry that the Dentist is diagnosing for their patient
- Achieve proficiency in PDS system and tools to assist patients in making informed decisions
- Execute the HC Handoff in partnership with each clinician on every exam patient
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert on all available financial options to fit the patient’s budget
- Professionally overcome common patient objections to starting treatment
- Obtain necessary insurance pre-authorizations for patients when required
- Ensure the office exemplifies the Comprehensive Care Model and related referrals
- Participate in daily morning huddles, monthly team meetings, and other required meetings
- Understand how the role impacts business metrics and results
- Support the PDS Brand framework in decision making
- Learn and apply knowledge on the Mouth Body Connection to support clinical excellence
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with company policies
- Ensure compliance with Company policies and state, federal, and other regulatory bodies
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED
- Travel might be required between offices
- Prior coursework or on-the-job training in dentistry, insurance, or business
- Knowledge of office practices, technology applications and patient insurances
- Results oriented; energetic self-starter; able to set and meet commitments
- Patient advocate; empathetic, ethical, flexible
- Process-focused operator with detailed, organized, and data-driven approach
- Financial acumen; understands profit drivers and regional market factors

- Ability to multi-task effectively while maintaining quality
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential patient records
