Job Description:

This description is intended to indicate the kinds of duties and responsibilities that may be required of employees given this title. It shall not be construed as determining what the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position shall be. It is not intended to limit in any way the right of supervisors to assign, direct and control the work of employees under their supervision.

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following duties. These include, but are not limited to

* Provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention focused on mental health and/or situational concerns such as grief or difficult transitions.

* Meet with students who are struggling academically on a regular basis regarding formulating a plan of action for success in the classroom

* Meet with seniors once each semester and provide parents/guardians updates regarding graduation status

* Work with students who have discipline, attendance and/or academic problems referred by teachers, parents, or administration

* Insure that students are aware of requirements for graduation and college admission, as well as any requirements that may be necessary for athletic participation

* Guide students to choose courses consistent with his/her interests, abilities and career plans

* Assist students with the completion of college admissions applications

* Organize and promote standardized assessment opportunities and interpret test results to students and/or parents on request

* Assist in making necessary schedule changes for individual students that are both appropriate for their abilities and aligned with their educational and career plans

* Serve as a resource for students, staff and parents regarding development needs of students

* Refer students and parents/guardians to appropriate school and community resources

* Continue personal professional growth and development in the area of guidance counseling

* Attend training and development opportunities related to scheduling software for the school

* Assist in identification and evaluation of students with special needs

* Assist with development and maintenance of school master schedules, registration and student schedules as requested

* Follow state law and district policy involving child abuse and neglect cases

* Participate in the District Crisis Team as needed

* Develop and maintain the school counseling calendar

* Responsible for ECAPS for all students

* Acts as West-MEC Student Advisor

* Maintains credit recovery program and scheduling

* Perform other job duties as assigned by superintendent and/or supervisor
