Join the Tohono O'odham Community College Team as an Adjunct Instructor!
We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to teach courses in a tribal community college setting. The Adjunct Instructor supports the T-So:son (Our Core Values).
$1,000.00 per Credit Hour
What You Will Do:As an Adjunct Instructor, you will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and support to students. Essential duties include:
- Instruct students in a classroom setting in an assigned area of responsibility.
- Teaching assignments may include evening classes, hybrid, and online formats.
- Develop course syllabus; plan, teach, observe; grade assignments, and evaluate overall student performance.
- Facilitate study sessions and workshops with students.
- Participate in the development of applicable instructional materials, exams, workshops, tutorials, and support items.
- Conduct research of new programs, educational philosophies, and maintain current knowledge of the discipline.
- Develop, implement, and integrate Tohono O’odham culture in the curriculum.
- May assist in the preparation of schedules and course offerings.
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge and skills:
- Knowledge of instructional methodologies, adult learning theory, and student evaluation methods.
- Skills in instructing students and evaluating student performance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, and the general public.
- Skill in using a computer and related software applications.
- Knowledge of principles in the assigned academic area.
To be considered for this Adjunct Instructor pool, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Master’s degree in the teaching field or a Master's degree in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field.
- Two years of teaching experience in an academic setting.
- Experience with, or willingness to learn, multimedia presentation, online and hybrid course delivery, and online course development and teaching.
- Valid state Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Must have or be able to obtain a fingerprint clearance card.
We highly value candidates who also possess:
- Knowledge and understanding of the history and of contemporary issues facing Native people.
- Ability to speak and understand O’odham and/or Spanish.
Schedule:
- Courses can be offered in-person and online. Adjunct faculty could teach at any of our three campuses Main, West, the Phoenix center and/or synchronous online.
- The position involves typical office or administrative work, with no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
- The work is classified as Sedentary.
- Activities include talking, hearing, and repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Requires close visual acuity for activities such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, extensive reading, and viewing a computer terminal.
