General Statement of Responsibilities: The Home Health Aide Teacher is responsible for teaching and training students in the skills and knowledge required to provide essential care to patients in home settings. This role includes delivering instruction on patient care, safety protocols, basic nutrition, home sanitation, infection control, first aid, taking vital signs, personal hygiene, interpersonal communication, supervised home management, and emergency recognition.

The instructor designs and delivers curriculum that prepares students for certification exams and ensures they are ready to meet the demands of a career as a Home Health Aide.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepares students for success on State CTE assessments and industry certifications
  • Develops, implements, and maintains a Career & Technical Student Organization
  • Establishes and maintains a local advisory council that includes business and industry
  • Delivers curriculum covering HHA topics (ADE)
  • Provides lectures, demonstrations, and hands‑on practice in classroom and lab settings, ensuring students gain the necessary skills to provide safe, high‑quality care
  • Teaches proper techniques for transferring patients, assisting with mobility, and handling medical equipment commonly used in home health settings
  • Provides feedback and coaching on clinical skills, infection control procedures, and safety protocols to build student confidence and competence
  • Instructs students on essential skills for patient interaction, including effective communication, compassion, and cultural sensitivity
  • Emphasizes the importance of observing and reporting changes in patient health and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other confidentiality regulations
  • Prepares students for HHA certification exams by covering all relevant skills and knowledge areas (ADE)
  • Administers practice exams and conducts skills assessments to evaluate students’ readiness for certification
  • Creates an inclusive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and skill‑building
  • Offers support to students, including one‑on‑one guidance and answers to questions about course material
  • Ensures students adhere to attendance, conduct, and safety policies within classroom and lab settings
  • Develops lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment tools that meet required standards and address the competencies required for home health aides
  • Follows OSHA and HIPAA guidelines within classroom
  • Ensures that all lab equipment and training materials are properly maintained, sanitized, and used in accordance with safety standards
Certification
  • Valid State of Arizona Teaching Certificate for CTE Secondary Education
  • Arizona Fingerprint Card
Education

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Education (preferred)

Experience

• 6,000 clock hours of job experience required (CTE Certification requirement) and such alternatives to the above qualifications

Other Requirements

Supervisor: Instructional Aide

License: Driver’s License

Physical Requirements: Must be able to operate classroom equipment and computer
