Assistant Professor of Computer Science

Job Summary

The College of Engineering at West Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Science. Candidates should have a earned doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related discipline and be prepared to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level, actively seek research grants, and contribute to the college’s mission.

• Establish a sustainable, nationally recognized research program.
• Recruit and mentor graduate students through externally funded research.
• Publish high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarship.
• Innovate in teaching and curriculum development.
• Engage in institutional, professional, and community service.

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related discipline (required).
• Ability to teach undergraduate computer science courses.
• Demonstrated potential for impactful research and external funding.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring students at all levels.
• Capacity to contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration across programs.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

• Academic, industry, or teaching background in core areas of Computer Science.
