POSITION SUMMARY
The School Social Worker will provide services to students and families which strengthen home/school/community relationships and alleviate barriers to learning.
To support the mission of the district goals, procedures, and policies in the best interest of the student by professionally carrying out assigned duties and participating in the improvement and refinement of related areas. To coordinate program resources to promote the development of each student.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration
Reform Act of 1986. - Must have a valid Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (Educator)
- Standard Guidance Counselor Certificate. Social Worker Certificate preferred
- Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university.
- Master's degree (MSW) is preferred from a college or university.
- One year of successful social work experience or one year of field instruction in a school system, or six semester hours of acceptable coursework.
- Knowledge of school, district and community resources.
- Adheres to the District vision, mission, core values and goals in collaboration with staff.
- Demonstrates the ability and desire to provide outstanding customer service.
- Demonstrates a high regard for confidential and sensitive information.
- Serve as a site-based liaison, facilitating referrals to community agencies to meet the needs of students and families.
- Conduct school wide needs assessment to identify programming, groups, and individuals in need of additional support.
- Provide direct intervention such as individual, group counseling, classroom lessons based on data collection.
- Use data to guide service delivery and to evaluate school social worker practice regularly to improve and expand services.
- Assist in implementing site level educational programs including Social Emotional Learning and professional development for school personnel.
- Identify cultural, ethnic, financial, physical, and emotional challenges which might be negatively impacting students' success and provide support to mitigate barriers.
- Serve as an active member of school/district assigned subcommittees and crisis response team.
- Participate in department planning, and training regarding school related issues.
- Implement evidence informed, prevention programs and practices that teach positive behaviors, promote social emotional development, and ensure school climates are conducive to learning.
- In collaboration with school counseling staff, plan and conduct school activities related to mental health topic such as suicide prevention, self-harm and mental illness, substance abuse and other timely topics.
- Consult with school personnel regarding problems affecting students' academic progress, behavior, and personal well-being as well as providing appropriate intervention and follow up.
- Provide direct services to students to address mental health concerns, conflict resolutions, anger management and coping skills.
- Facilitate interventions to students and their families during crisis.
- Make home visits as necessary to assist students and families.
- Maintain secure record keeping.
- Attend and participate in meetings which may occur beyond the staff's normally scheduled workday.
- Participates in professional development to enhance knowledge and pedagogical skill.
- Attend required program training and conduct required program activities, including implementation of social emotional learning strategies.
- Implement School Social Worker or School Counselor responsibilities as recommended by the School Social Workers Association of America or American School Counselor Association.
