To facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing the District approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress, activities, and outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing timely feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress to support expectations and reinforce classroom goals.
- Assess students to provide feedback regarding progress, expectations, goals.
- Work with other teachers to implement the curriculum.
- Collaborate with school personnel and parents to improve student outcomes, develop solutions, and plan curriculum.
- Direct paraprofessionals, volunteers, and/or student aides for an effective school program and address individual student needs.
- Instruct students to improve academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
- Maintain regular and appropriate attendance and punctuality to meet student and district needs.
- Monitor student activities (classroom, lunch, grounds, etc.) for a safe learning environment.
- Prepare teaching materials and reports (grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) to implement lesson plans and document progress.
- Report incidents (fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) to maintain safety and compliance with policies.
- Assist other personnel as required to support their work activities.
- Actively participate in meetings (parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) and meet District requirements.
- Accept and carry out other duties as assigned.
This position supervises students in the classroom and in other areas as assigned. It may also include supervision of a paraprofessional.

- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the area in which the teacher is assigned.
- Valid Arizona certificate in the area of assignment.
- SEI endorsement.
- Valid Class One Arizona fingerprint clearance card.
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. May be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to taste or smell. May have to lift/move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities: close, distance, peripheral, adjust focus.
