Job Title

Assistant Professor of Accounting (Agency West Texas A&M University, Department of Accounting, Economics & Finance). Canyon, Texas

Job Overview

Teach undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses, advise and mentor students, develop curriculum, and actively engage in scholarly research. Maintain professional knowledge, contribute to service activities in the department and college, and participate in ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate accounting courses; develop and update course materials; assess student learning.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Conduct research in accounting and publish scholarly work.
  • Participate in departmental and university service, such as committees and curriculum development; stay current with changes in accounting standards and educational practices.
  • Collaborate with industry and professional organizations to ensure coursework remains relevant and support student career development.
Essential Qualifications
  • Doctorate (PhD or DBA) in accounting or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in university‑level teaching and a documented record of scholarly research or clear potential for research productivity in accounting or a related area.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor students.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certifications such as CPA or CMA.
  • Experience with accounting software and technology.
  • Previous university teaching experience.
  • Curriculum development expertise.
  • Proficiency in online or hybrid instruction.
