• 4 Day Work Week (Tue-Fri)
• Part-time (3 hours per day)
A lunch/recess aide is responsible for monitoring student behavior during meal service, assisting with the cleanliness of the cafeteria, and ensuring the smooth flow of meal service. The work is performed under the general supervision of the principal with consultation from the Food Services Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES- Manages students during meal service (behavior problems will be referred to the teacher or principal according to school guidelines).
- Communicates with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Circulates throughout the cafeteria or areas where meals are served and/or eaten, assisting students who need help and supporting cafeteria cleanliness.
- Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time and encourages good table manners.
- Has knowledge of student behavior and characteristics and possesses a repertoire of acceptable methods to redirect and control students.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and principals.
- Enforces established rules and regulations.
- Conveys discipline problems requiring teacher and/or principal attention.
- Exhibits consistency and fairness in disciplinary procedures.
- Acts as an appropriate role model, providing examples, emotional support, friendly attitude, and guidance.
- Responds to emergency situations to resolve student safety concerns and reports them to the direct supervisor.
- Skilled at communicating with a wide range of ages and personalities, resolving conflicts fairly to all participants’ satisfaction.
- Possesses good reading comprehension to understand school and lunchroom rules.
- Holds oral communication abilities to clearly explain rules and regulations.
To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, employees regularly must talk or listen, stand, walk, sit, use hands, lift or move up to 50 pounds, and be exposed to varied outdoor temperatures and weather conditions.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSValid Identity Verified Prints Fingerprint Clearance Card IVP (plastic) from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESSupervises students.
