Position: 2026-27 Lead Teacher, English Language Development (K-8)
Location: Laveen

Job Title

Provides academic instruction to identified English Language Learner (ELL) students as aligned to Arizona state standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's and/or Master's degree. Arizona Teacher Certification. Must be highly qualified to teach the assigned grade and/or content. Preferred SEI endorsement. Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card.

Principal/Coordinator, Federal Programs

Performance Responsibilities
  • Performs all programmatic responsibilities for the ELL program as outlined in the district's ELL scope and sequence and in relevant state statutes and administrative code.
  • Provides support for identified ELL students, motivating students to maximize their learning potential.
  • Provides support for classroom teachers of identified ELL students that emphasizes increasing the academic achievement of ELL students in the district.
  • Reinforces the consistent use of proven, research-based strategies for effective differentiation and instruction of ELL students.
  • Supports the development of individualized learning compacts to meet the unique needs of each identified ELL student; ELL individualized learning compacts include input from teachers, parents, and students.
  • Provides professional development opportunities for instructional staff on effective differentiation strategies and instruction of ELL students.
  • Maintains appropriate ELL student records and documentation of program activities.
  • Evaluates referred students to determine eligibility for the ELL program.
  • Prepares and submits all reports and documentation as directed.
  • Engages with grade-level or subject area colleagues in giving and receiving feedback on instruction, examining student work, analyzing evidence of instructional effectiveness, and sharing responsibility for student learning.
  • Seeks opportunities to share practices and learning with colleagues and to learn from them.
  • Maintains relationships with colleagues that are characterized by mutual support, respect, and cooperation.
  • Involves families in setting goals and expectations for individual student learning and development.
  • Communicates expectations for individual students to families, and works with them to develop and monitor strategies at home to support students in achieving those goals.
  • Communicates with families regarding individual student learning and progress.
  • Responds fully to families' concerns about students, and follows up by providing information about progress or changes.
  • Maintains relationships with families that are characterized by mutual support.
  • Seeks opportunities and accepts leadership roles within the school.
  • Actively supports the school's shared vision and common goals.
  • Contributes to school improvement efforts.
  • Seeks out and participates in ongoing professional learning opportunities within and outside the school that generally address needs identified through examination of evidence of instructional effectiveness.
  • Directs student teachers, instructional associates, volunteers, and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
