Location: Peach Springs

Position Purpose

Peach Springs Unified School District seeks a highly qualified, mission-driven elementary teacher for grades K-3. The ideal candidate will have diverse instructional experience, preferably with a native community and underserved population of students. Under the principal’s supervision, the teacher will facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, addressing specific educational needs, creating a safe learning environment, and providing feedback to students, parents and administrators.

Essential Functions
  • Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize instructional time.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instruction to meet individual student needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Instructs students on responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws and administrative regulations of the school system.
  • Continually acquires professional knowledge and stays current by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings and conducting research.
  • Organizes and maintains accurate record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and laws.
  • Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensures student conduct conforms with school standards and district policies, maintaining a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Coordinates with other elementary staff, especially within grade level, to evaluate curriculum and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
  • Supervises students in off‑classroom activities during the school day, including transportation.
  • Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal and central office administrators as designated by the superintendent. This description is illustrative and not exhaustive.

Equipment

Uses standard office equipment such as personal computer, printer, copier, fax machine, and telephone.

Travel Requirements

Travels to district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy and differentiation.
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data systems, data analysis and action planning.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
  • Ability to use computer networks and software applications.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self‑evaluation for performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others.

Qualifications Profile
  • Teaching license with Arizona state certification in elementary education.
  • Arizona state certification in appropriate grade level preferred.
  • I.V.P. Security Clearance Card.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in elementary education or related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in related area preferred.
Experience

Successful prior teaching experience in appropriate grade levels is a plus.
