Associate Faculty

The Associate Faculty
- Viticulture is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in grape production using classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory work, and field-based learning, aligning with the Viticulture Certificate program, to ensure students gain the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary for success in the grape-growing industry. Associate Faculty provide an invaluable service to the College and our students by providing experience of their profession in our classrooms, laboratories, and studios, for a diverse student population;

performing instructional duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies, and procedures of the college.

Duties and Responsibilities

Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position:

Oversees curriculum development, industry partnerships, and student mentorship while fostering experiential learning through the application of viticulture principles. This position also supports institutional initiatives, including community engagement, workforce development, and sustainability practices within the viticulture sector.

Teaches assigned Viticulture and related courses, associated labs, industry certification-related classes and supervises internships in accordance with the college's workload policy; maintains written instructional standards, facilitates instruction using assigned delivery methods as needed; informs students in writing of instructional standards; posts and maintains office hours; participates in the assessment of student learning outcomes; establishes, maintains and submits accurate student and instructional records in a timely manner.

Develops new course, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools; purchases equipment and supplies to maintain program; reviews and updates course outlines, textbooks, laboratories and course procedure sheets for Viticulture and related courses; assists with the preparation of course proposals, curriculum updates and the construction of degree/certificate programs. Coordinates and completes program review.

Applies and maintains standards of continuous improvement processes in the Viticulture program; integrates knowledge of industry trends and professional training to continuously improve program quality.

Participates in Viticulture program course scheduling, department, division, and college meetings; serves on college committees as assigned.

Actively participates in student recruiting for the Viticulture program. Oversees internship opportunities available for students in the discipline area. Serves as liaison for workforce development and training needs.

Participates in industry advisory boards, local and regional Viticulture organizations, as well as active participation in other community outreach activities. Works with the Advisory Committee to develop and meet educational needs. Represents the program to the college and target community.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
