Duties
As Teacher (Elementary) – CY-1710, you will provide instruction at the professional level, serving as a classroom teacher, team teacher, remedial teacher, or special services teacher according to the school’s setting and organizational structure. The Teacher (Elementary) will plan, implement, and evaluate instructional activities under stated guidelines.
- Prepare yearly instructional outlines and daily lesson plans covering relevant units of study, specifying objectives, activities, and evaluative methods for both group and individual programs.
- Teach students by selecting, developing, adapting, and implementing appropriate instructional methods and techniques utilizing available resources to provide academic achievement.
- Provide learning experiences in assigned subject areas that develop cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills appropriate to all students’ needs and interests.
- Continuously evaluate individual and group academic progress using criterion‑referenced tests, periodic standardized tests, oral tests, and other relevant evaluation methods. Use alternative instruction to meet individual needs.
- Make progress reports to parents, conferring with parents and other concerned individuals. Maintain required records in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Maintain control of the assigned class and handle discipline independently, except for chronic or extreme behavior problems. Counsel individual students within established guidelines, using background information to provide effective instruction and learning cycles related to behavior and progress.

- This position is EXEMPT from the Fair Labor Standards Act.
- Probationary period is one academic year (two full semesters) during which fitness and continued employment will be evaluated.
- Initial appointments under Public Law 95‑561 do not confer competitive nor career status.

To qualify, you must meet the education and licensure requirements for the approved job category under P.L. 95‑561 described below.
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree (or higher) from an accredited educational institution.
- All professional educators must possess a valid teacher certification/licensure in the appropriate endorsement area. Emergency and provisional certificates may be accepted under the conditions they are issued by the state certification authority.
Applicants with valid state certification in a state other than where the position is located may be considered. If selected, they will be issued a provisional contract outlining the requirement to obtain full state teacher certification within two full contract terms.
Education should have been obtained from an accredited or pre‑accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for it to be credited towards qualifications.
