PurposeThe teacher supports the instructional process by developing student success in academics and skills, supervising students, developing lesson plans, delivering instruction, collaborating with staff, and responding to inquiries.

Essential Functions- Achieve excellence with work processes and outcomes, honoring school policies and all regulatory requirements.
- Administer subject‑specific assessments to evaluate student competency and develop individual learning plans.
- Advise parents and/or legal guardians about student progress, expectations, achievements, and methods to improve and reinforce goals.
- Assess student progress toward objectives, provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Be helpful, respectful, approachable, and team oriented for strong working relationships.
- Be receptive to feedback and willing to learn for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents and community resources to improve student outcomes and support the school improvement plan.
- Counsel students or refer them to appropriate personnel for improvement, health status, problem solving, and personal issues.
- Demonstrate methods required for classroom or subject‑specific assignments to provide an effective program addressing individual student requirements.
- Differentiates classroom work to provide instructional materials that address individualized learning within established lesson plans.
- Direct teacher assistants, student teachers, volunteers, and/or student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address individual student needs.
- Instruct students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Monitor students in various educational environments (classroom, field trips, campus) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participate in meetings (district, staff, departmental) to convey and/or gather information necessary to perform functions.
- Participate in PLC (Professional Learning Committee) to review data and instructional practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Plan ahead, manage time well, be punctual, and be cost conscious to complete tasks effectively.
- Prepare a wide variety of materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Report incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse) to the assigned administrator and appropriate agencies to maintain student safety, provide a positive learning environment, and comply with regulations.
- Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and direct to appropriate personnel.
- Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, etc., to resolve issues, provide information, and direction.
- Support other classroom teachers in implementing established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Skills are required to perform multiple, highly complex tasks and to upgrade skills as conditions change. Competencies include applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment and software; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Knowledge is required in algebra and/or geometry; reviewing and interpreting technical information; writing technical materials; speaking persuasively; and analyzing situations. Specific knowledge includes appropriate codes, policies, regulations, age‑appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, stages of child development, behavioral management strategies, assessment instruments, and methods of instruction.
