Position Summary
School Volunteers provide valuable support to Bisbee Unified School District by assisting teachers, staff, and students in a variety of educational and extracurricular activities. Volunteers enhance the educational experience by contributing their time and talents while serving under the direct supervision of district personnel. Volunteers supplement, but do not replace, the work of district employees and are expected to uphold the mission, vision, and values of Bisbee Unified School District.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following statements describe the general responsibilities assigned to this position. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.
- Assist teachers with classroom preparation, instructional activities, and organizational tasks.
- Support students individually or in small groups under the direct supervision of a certified staff member.
- Read with students, practice academic skills, and encourage positive learning behaviors.
- Assist with library, office, cafeteria, playground, and campus activities as assigned.
- Support school events, family engagement activities, assemblies, field trips, and extracurricular programs.
- Assist with preparing instructional materials, organizing supplies, filing, copying, and other clerical tasks.
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment.
- Follow directions provided by school administrators and staff.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding students, staff, and district operations in accordance with applicable laws and district policies.
- Report safety concerns, accidents, injuries, or suspected child abuse immediately to a supervising staff member or administrator.
- Comply with all district policies, procedures, visitor protocols, and campus safety expectations.
- Sign in and out through the school's visitor management system and wear volunteer identification while on campus.
- Complete all required volunteer orientation and training.
- Perform other volunteer duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.

- Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Effective oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrates professionalism, patience, flexibility, and good judgment.
- Meets all district volunteer approval requirements.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in classrooms, offices, libraries, cafeterias, gymnasiums, playgrounds, and other school facilities. Volunteers may be required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, or lift classroom materials. The work environment includes the normal conditions associated with public schools.
