Description

This 10‑month faculty position in Allied Health will teach approximately 33 loads per year (about 33 credit hours) through live, hybrid, or online instruction via the institution’s learning management system. The role supports Northland Pioneer College’s mission and values while providing high‑quality instruction, student mentorship, laboratory management, curriculum development, and community collaboration in Medical Assisting, Health Science, Allied Health, and related Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

Successful faculty will teach courses in the accredited undergraduate Allied Health department and other qualified courses, in a variety of environments and modes (team‑taught, day, evening, online, hybrid). They will integrate technology, assess students, maintain scheduled office hours, provide service to the department, division, college, and community, develop relationships with discipline‑related professionals, collaborate on transfer opportunities through AZ Transfer, serve as a community resource, be active in their field, and travel within the college district.

Faculty are expected to maintain an average of 40 hours per week during the contract period, including pre‑session, intersession, recruitment activities, advisory committees, and community outreach events.

Examples of Duties

In addition to the core responsibilities, the faculty member will be required to:

Prepare and deliver learner‑centered classroom instruction emphasizing critical thinking and participation.

Demonstrate knowledge and clinical competence in community‑based healthcare settings; collaborate with faculty, students, and staff in clinical facilities.

Implement evaluation tools for student learning and clinical experience, prepare and administer examinations, and maintain records.

Oversee laboratory safety, cleanliness, organization, maintenance, and compliance with infection control and professional standards.

Order supplies and equipment that reflect current healthcare industry standards and best practices.

Work with advisory committees to meet community needs and curriculum requirements.

Provide mentoring and support to adjunct faculty.

Participate in department and college functions per contract.

Complete the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) within the probationary period and preferably in the first year; note that completion does not receive additional compensation.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA, college policies, and healthcare industry standards.

Essential Functions Standard Faculty Expectations

Positively support and promote the college’s governing board, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and communities.

Teach a minimum of 16.5 loads per semester, at varied times and locations, using a variety of delivery systems (video, enhanced audio, online).

Maintain a consistent and dependable work schedule averaging 40 hours weekly during the contract term, including instructional preparation, grading, office hours, committee work, lab oversight, student mentoring, and program responsibilities.

Develop and revise course syllabi, instructional materials, laboratory activities, and assessments to reflect current healthcare practices and industry standards.

Participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of curriculum, including assessment of student learning and program review.

Travel to required college campuses, centers, or clinical sites as needed.

Attend and participate in all college, division, and NAVIT mandatory meetings.

Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grading documentation, clinical records, and required reports in compliance with college and accrediting agency requirements.

Maintain regular office hours and meet all instructional deadlines.

Serve on program Advisory Councils, Committees, and Articulation Task Forces.

Provide input for budgets, book orders, and semester schedules.

Engage in creative and scholarly activities within the discipline.

Maintain industry‑recognized certification in the assigned discipline, as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.
