Special Education Instruction Aide
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Required For Hire: Level I IVP Fingerprint Card
The Special Education Paraprofessional provides essential support to students with diverse learning and physical needs. This role focuses on delivering instructional assistance, managing student behavior, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment. The position requires a high level of physical stamina and the ability to provide direct personal care while maintaining constant supervision of students to ensure their safety and well-being.
Probationary Period: There is a probationary period of 90 days. At the end of that time, the employee will be evaluated by his/her supervisors. If the evaluation is favorable, the employee will continue to work for the District. An unfavorable evaluation will result in termination.
Duties- Provide instructional support with teacher’s supervision
- Supervise playground under teacher’s supervision
- Maintain constant supervision for students prone to elopement (wandering or running away).
- Quickly follow and safely redirect students who leave designated areas
- Provide personal care, including diapering and assisting with all aspects of toileting.
- Perform lifting and positioning of students onto changing tables.
- Assist non-ambulatory students with transfers between wheelchairs, standers, and other adaptive equipment.
Job Requirements

- Attend training sessions required by Administration
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move students or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending at the waist to engage with students at their level.
- Ability to remain active for extended periods in noisy or crowded environments and navigate various campus terrains (playgrounds, hallways, etc.).
- Demonstrated patience and empathy when working with students with special needs
- Perform other general duties as assigned
Position Type: Part-Time
Salary: $15.70 to $16.80 Per Hour
