General Description

Head Percussion Instructor falls under the direct supervision of the High School Band Director. The Head Percussion Instructor works directly with the band director to develop and maintain a successful percussion program, both as an element of the marching band, and as a separate unit in the winter Indoor Percussion season.

Responsibilities

* Work with students .

* Collaborate with the band director to write and design effective performance shows.

* Write and arrange percussion music.

* Organize and lead effective rehearsals in a positive, professional environment, focusing on equality, engagement, and excellence.

* Attend all performances and competitions.

* Interact with students, parents, and other instructors in a professional manner.

* Manage percussion equipment and coordinate with band director on equipment needs.

Desired Qualifications

* Experience performing and teaching percussion instruments

* Experience performing and/or teaching in a competitive circuit.

* Flexibility in meeting the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds and abilities.

* Strong communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
