Position Overview

This is a regular full‑time management position reporting directly to the AES team lead for the West Camp Wind facility in Arizona. Candidates must be able to develop, educate, and ensure the safety of others and must be willing to work extra or irregular hours as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, track, and report site maintenance, work schedules, turbine and field repairs.
  • Responsibly oversee all operating activities and ensure compliance with the Vestas Full‑Service agreement.
  • Plan and coordinate contractor work for BOP and turbine repair.
  • Perform road maintenance, snow removal, and inspect project roads.
  • Maintain the substation and O&M yard, clean debris, and ensure adequate snow removal.
  • Verify post‑contractor WTG access for gate closures to avoid livestock issues.
  • Manage O&M building janitorial tasks, including trash removal and general cleanliness.
  • Engage/monitor seasonal workers, manage workload, and develop a list of tasks for temporary labor.
  • Attend daily POD meetings and monitor OEM work on site.
  • Conduct regular inspections, including:
    • Monthly substation inspections and corrective work.
    • Inspection of WTG locations after OEM work to ensure no extension of disturbance limits.
    • Inspection of gates, locks, and signage.
    • Assessment of WTG gravel rings and access roads for deterioration and drainage issues.
    • Inspection of junction boxes, locks, and arc flash stickers.
    • SPCC monthly/quarterly checks of crane pads, access roads, gravel rings, ladder foundations, and anchor bolt covers.
    • Weed control at WTG gravel rings, substation, O&M building, and emergency shelter.
    • Annual T‑line vegetation inspection with photos, email updates, and reports.
  • Exercise care, custody, and control of AES Clean Energy equipment and facilities.
Desired Skills, Expertise, and Competencies
  • At least 5 years of experience in plant maintenance, operations, or related technical fields.
  • Experience with wind turbines and systems, especially Vestas turbines, is a significant advantage.
  • Proven O&M management skills and understanding of general workplace safety.
  • Strong collaborative, cross‑functional teamwork and the ability to work in a geographically diverse environment.
  • Excellent hands‑on technical abilities, with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Proactive enthusiasm for solving problems and adding value.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional relationships and communicate openly and honestly.
  • Strong team players who assist others when necessary.
  • High school diploma or GED (advanced technical education or training preferred).
  • Equipment operator preferred; NERC NFPA
    70E high‑voltage training desirable.
Working Conditions
  • Outdoor work at wind plants involving windy, dusty, hot, and winter conditions.
  • On‑site work five days a week, 7am–3pm, with emergency on‑call; travel for other locations may change hours.
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and accessing plant equipment.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment, including respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear and ear plugs.
  • May require work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, chemicals, and lifting of equipment as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned and overtime or non‑standard hours as needed.
