About Hermosa

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

The Project Engineer provides assurance the construction installation contractors conform to South
32 design expectations. Assists in management of all construction activities and skilled, technical, and professional staff are engaged in the construction of process facilities, surface infrastructure, roads, dams, water treatment plants, power infrastructure, maintenance and administrative buildings, and all other onsite and offsite infrastructure. Responsibilities include active interface and management of multiple contractors and subcontractors including planning, scheduling, reporting, health, safety, security, environmental compliance, quality, community relations, and meeting targets within budget and on time.

This role is based at the Hermosa Project site, near Patagonia, Arizona.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Compliance and safe practices of construction engineering staff and their teams.
• Establish and execute the construction engineering program, including the exchange of engineering information among the client, design engineer, and company project team; ensure effective communication and the addressing and tracking of needs, requirements, and issues.
• Manage the construction engineering department including staffing and supervising the activities and performance of the department; provide guidance to, as well as training and development of, construction engineering personnel.
• Provide technical support to construction operations and the site quality program; ensure all technical aspects of construction are satisfied.
• Ensure that project construction activities and services are executed in conformity with S32’s environmental and community relations policies and plans.
• Assist with the preparation of Sourcing Strategies for major works packages as required.
• Assist with preparation of annual budgets with input and assistance from the Project Controls Team.
