Where You Will WorkOur Miami smelter and rod plant is nestled just 90 miles east of Phoenix. The smelter processes copper concentrate primarily from our company's Arizona copper mines and is the most significant source of sulfuric acid for our North American leaching operations. Under minimum supervision, troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, commission, and improve site Industrial Control Systems while mentoring junior technicians, engineers, and operators on Process Automation topics. Follow and direct Freeport-Mc Mo Ran safety and environmental programs and communicate safety implications related to Process Automation and ICScybersecurity practices. Lead and mentor others, providing guidance and supervision when needed. Create and review engineering documentation and ensure project work meets site standards.
Implement ICShardware and software installations, identify opportunities for process improvement through automation, and enhance operational effectiveness. Direct implementation and maintenance of the Process Control Network (PCN) to maintain plant performance, cybersecurity, and historian systems. Respond promptly to plant issues and organize troubleshooting efforts. Specify and install advanced instrumentation solutions for integration into ICSc. Participate in equipment life cycle management, develop plans and budgetary estimates, and manage projects.
Perform other duties as required.
- Completion of an approved electrical/instrumentation certification program and one (1) year of experience in process automation repair and maintenance in an industrial setting;
OR
- Five (5) years of experience relevant to electrical, instrumentation, and/or Process Automation maintenance and troubleshooting in an industrial setting, including one (1) year of Process Automation-specific maintenance and troubleshooting
- Completion of required academic and practical competencies, including Line of Progression requirements where applicable
- Demonstrated aptitude and ability to pass written assessments based on technical skills and safety
- Familiarity with NFPA 70 and NEC or Industrial Electrical Journeyman Training
- PLC, HMI, SCADA, and/or DCS manufacturer training or certification
- Experience with plant process historians or similar database systems
- Experience with ICSc/PCN network architecture, communication, and security
- Experience in or understanding of mining and mineral processing systems
The estimated pay range for this role is currently$35.00 - $47.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
