Description

The Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for actively contributing to the bank’s sales and business development efforts by identifying and developing new lending opportunities. This includes performing outreach activities to prospective borrowers, reporting key updates to supervisor, documenting sales and service efforts, coordinating effectively within the Mortgage Origination Department, being compliant with policy and procedures, and responding promptly to internal and external inquiries or requests for information.

Compensation structure is Base Salary + Commission.

• Develop, maintain, and grow a personal network of realtors, builders, financial advisors, and other referral sources to generate mortgage applications.
• Consult with clients to assess their financial needs and recommend essential mortgage products. Ensures applications are complete and accurate. Collaborates with the underwriting team to ensure regulatory compliance and provide a positive experience for the client through closing.
• Regularly engage outside the employer's place of business. Making sales calls or participating in various marketing activities outside the office.
• Stay informed of investor guidelines, loan program updates, and regulatory requirements to remain compliant with policy and procedure.

Mortgage Loan Originator possesses a high degree of technical abilities. Candidates should have significant training and expertise in mortgage and retail lending, deposit origination, compliance, software, and customer service. They continuously seek additional opportunities for learning new skills, sharpening existing skills and keeping updated on current regulations, software improvements, and market conditions. Some travel may be required.

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential position requirement satisfactorily and a skills inventory is listed below. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required, with related experience and secondary education preferred. A background screening will be conducted.
