Pretrial Services Officer is a safety-sensitive position that requires a comprehensive background check, pre-employment drug screening, fingerprinting, and post employment, random drug screening. NATURE OF WORK:
Under general supervision, performs supervision and supportive casework services to pretrial clients at the direction of the Superior Court under the provisions of evidence-based practices and consistent with the Arizona Code of Judicial Administration. Performs related duties as assigned Essential Functions

TYPICAL DUTIES (Illustrative Only)

Completes the Public Safety Assessment (PSA) on all newly reported arrests for both the Cochise County Superior Court and Cochise County Justice Court precincts utilizing various information sources including AZPROS, Spillman, ACJIS, etc. on a daily basis; completes daily Court filing as needed for the pretrial services and presentence division of Adult Probation and other units as necessary; performs closely structured supervision and observation concerning compliance with conditions of pretrial release including directing and guiding the client and conducting field contacts (home, work, treatment facilities, community restitution or jail) as a member of the pretrial services team;

obtains, assembles, secures, keeps, and files a complete identification record concerning the person on pretrial services, including arrest reports, contact notes regarding compliance with terms of pretrial release; directs and/or refers pretrial clients to community resources, treatments, or other interventions based on assessments, behaviors, and conditions of supervised pretrial release; performs searches, breathalyzers/urinalysis collection, and makes a documented effort to locate absconders;

serves warrants, makes arrests, and brings persons before the court who are on probation including defaulting probationers facing revocation; surveillance officers have the authority of peace officers in the performance of his or her duties; appears and testifies in court; assists with probation caseload coverage including, but not limited to, monitoring probation clients, conducting field work and/or office visits, collecting urinalysis or saliva samples as needed.

attends various training programs as necessary to learn new techniques, comply with new laws or departmental policies; interfaces with community agencies and law enforcement departments in the performance of duties; remains abreast of contemporary social and economic conditions, regulations, guidelines, community social services programs and resources as they relate to probation and the justice system.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age at the time of hire and a United States citizen; must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; must successfully complete a 40-hour Defensive Tactics Training Academy within 210 days; must successfully complete the Intensive Probation Institute within the first 12 months of employment. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by county insurance.
