To perform investigation and collection of evidence in criminal cases and to present the information obtained for review and filing of charges; to respond to major or complicated crime scenes; and to work with other detectives, investigators from other jurisdictions, public and private attorneys, patrol officers on scene, witnesses, suspects, and victims.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training
College level course work or specialized training in law enforcement, criminal justice, police science, public administration, or a related field. An Associates or Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable.
Experience
Three years as a certified peace officer or two years as a certified peace officer with at least one year of full-time supervision experience.
License or Certificate:
Possession of an Arizona driver's license within two months of hire.
Valid peace officer certification. AZ POST Preferred
