Help Shape the Future of a Growing CommunityThe Town of Lisbon is seeking a knowledgeable, customer-focused, and solution-oriented Code Enforcement Officer (CEO) to join our team. This leadership position plays a vital role in protecting public health, safety, and welfare while supporting responsible growth and development throughout our community.
As the Town's Code Enforcement Officer and Local Health Officer, you will work closely with residents, business owners, contractors, developers, municipal boards, and staff to provide guidance, administer permits, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with building, zoning, land use, and environmental regulations.
SalaryPay Grade I: $67,101 - $81,557 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
What You'll Do- Review and issue building, plumbing, demolition, and related permits.
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with state and local regulations.
- Investigate code, zoning, and land use complaints.
- Serve as Lisbon's Local Health Officer.
- Provide technical assistance to residents, businesses, contractors, and developers.
- Support the Planning Board and Board of Appeals.
- Prepare reports, recommendations, and regulatory documentation.
- Supervise assigned staff and inspectors.
- Participate in planning, ordinance administration, and long-range community development initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a professional who combines technical expertise with exceptional customer service and communication skills. We are seeking someone who can educate, guide, and work collaboratively with property owners while applying regulations fairly, consistently, and professionally.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate's degree in construction management, public administration, planning, engineering technology, building inspection, or a related field and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in code enforcement, construction, planning, building inspection, or related fields.
- Strong customer service and conflict-resolution skills.
- Valid Maine driver's license.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Municipal code enforcement, planning, or zoning experience.
- Knowledge of Maine land use laws and planning practices.
- Electrical inspection certification or related credentials.
- Experience presenting before boards, commissions, or courts.
