Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Pharmacist to join a collaborative pharmacy team supporting healthcare services for an underserved Native American community. The Pharmacist will be responsible for accurately and efficiently processing prescriptions, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and regulations, safely managing controlled substances, and providing timely medication counseling to patients.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately and efficiently review, verify, and dispense prescription medications in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all prescriptions are processed in accordance with established pharmacy policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Safely and accurately process controlled substances in compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and timely medication counseling to patients and caregivers.
  • Maintain current knowledge of medications, drug interactions, therapeutic uses, contraindications, and safe medication practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support different pharmacy functions and operational needs as required.
  • Promote patient safety and medication-use quality through careful prescription review and verification.
  • Utilize pharmacy technology and automated dispensing systems to support efficient and accurate medication distribution.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory and quality-assurance requirements.
  • Participate in departmental training, education, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development activities.
  • Support vaccination services, specialty clinics, patient outreach, and other pharmacy programs as assigned.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, accountability, and a positive attitude in all patient and team interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.
Pharmacy Environment

The pharmacy operates within a high-volume healthcare environment and processes approximately 1,000 prescriptions per day with the support of experienced pharmacy staff and automated technology.

Team Structure:

  • 6–7 outpatient pharmacists
  • 4 outpatient clerks
  • 4 outpatient pharmacy technicians
  • 4-person billing team

Technology & Equipment:

  • Script Pro Pharmacy Management System
  • SP200 automated dispensing robot
  • RPMS Electronic Health Record
  • Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets
  • Carousel medication management system
  • Kirby Lester counting machine
  • Transition to a new EHR system underway

The pharmacy also supports vaccination services, a warfarin clinic, patient outreach initiatives, and collaborative clinical services throughout the healthcare system and community.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy and/or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
  • Current and active unrestricted state Pharmacist license;
    Arizona licensure is preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
