Fleet Maintenance Manager
Overview
Earth Resources Corporation (ERC) is a growing heavy civil construction company that relies on a high-performing, well-maintained fleet to deliver safe, on-time projects. We are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager who can lead our shop operations, manage equipment lifecycle strategy, and partner with field leadership to keep projects moving. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands heavy equipment, values accountability, and can balance operational urgency with long-term planning.
WhatYou’ll Do
As Fleet Manager, you will oversee the maintenance, compliance, and operational readiness of ERC’s heavy equipment fleet, including excavators, backhoes, dump trucks, water trucks, crushers, screens, motor graders, paving equipment, compactors, dozers, loaders, haul trucks, and support vehicles.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all fleet maintenance, oils, repairs, and operational planning for heavy civil equipment
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend asset life through Tenna Software
- Track maintenance costs to improve efficiency
- Manage parts, tools, and shop inventory to ensure readiness and cost control
- Ensure full compliance with DOT, OSHA, MSHA
, and company safety standards - Partner with Superintendents and Field Supervisors to schedule and deploy equipment effectively
- Negotiate and manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and supplier pricing for shop supplies
- Monitor fleet budgets and recommend cost-saving or efficiency improvements
- Supervise, train, and develop mechanics and technicians to maintain high standards
- Conduct regular inspections and proactively address mechanical or safety risks
- Recommend equipment replacements, upgrades, and lifecycle planning strategies through yearly reporting
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Fleet Manager, Equipment Manager, or Shop Manager in Heavy Civil construction
- Strong working knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance and diagnostics
- Experience with DOT compliance, fleet regulations, and safety programs
- Ability to manage budgets, analyze costs, and drive operational improvements
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset
- Proficiency with fleet management systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
- Combination of shop, yard, and field environments
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Physical activity including standing, walking, bending, climbing, and inspecting equipment
- Required use of PPE (hard hat, high-visibility apparel, safety boots, gloves, eye protection)
- Competitive salary $120,000 – 135,000 (depending on experience)
