This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Defense Industrial Base (DIB) &Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTF) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the PositionThis position in located at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona.
Duties- Serves as the Director of Emergency Services at a medium multi-mission military installation and is the primary responsible manager for law enforcement and fire protection/prevention.
- Performs s a wide range of managerial tasks in planning, managing, directing and evaluating law enforcement operations with full authority to make decisions and commit to a course of action.
- Exercises exclusive law enforcement jurisdiction at the garrison with responsibility for investigating, apprehending and detaining persons suspected or convicted of offenses against the criminal laws of the United States, the Department of Defense.
- Represents the garrison for law enforcement and fire protection/prevention law enforcement matters to the surrounding civilian communities to include the local, county and state police and fire departments; as well as civic interest groups.
- Develops performance plans, evaluates work performance and counsels staff as appropriate for the organization.
- Consults with subordinates on training needs, develops and administers an overall training plan for the Emergency Services Directorate.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential."
