Description

Supports the strategic fundraising efforts by designing, implementing, evaluating and refining the development activities. Personally identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gift donors and prospects. Fosters collaborative relationships, develops internal processes and procedures, and aligns marketing and outreach efforts for multiple development programs and initiatives. Responsible for overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gift donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and/or foundations, through visits and other forms of direct personal contact.
  • Provides general oversight of all of the organization’s fund development activities, manages the day to day operations of the development function, and monitors adequacy of activities through coordination with staff, appropriate committees, and governing body.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships to maximize the total gift revenue, plan solicitation strategies, and leverage joint solicitation efforts.
  • Assists and/or leads in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fund-raising goals and objectives.
  • Coordinates day-to-day development strategies and activities to ensure their integration into the overall development program.
  • Makes effective use of institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, alumni, and volunteers.
  • Conducts research to identify prospects and creates strategies to match prospects’ interests to the priorities of the foundation.
  • Researches, writes, edits, and/or oversees the preparation of persuasive, accurate solicitations, proposals, case statements, reports, correspondence, and other development-related communication materials in support of the fund-raising activities.
  • Plans and conducts programs and activities designed to increase the visibility to internal and external constituencies.
  • Trains and supervises staff and student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
  • Work to secure sponsorship of special events and coordinates events required to interact with donors (conferences, galas, house parties, etc.)
  • Ensure the quality and timely submission of all grant applications, reports and data
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years’ experience in foundation management and grant writing and/or grant management preferred
