Emergency Department Registered Nurses
- 2 Day Shift RNs - $122 per hour (all-inclusive rate)
- 5 Night Shift RNs - $130 per hour (all-inclusive rate)
- Successful Contract Completion Bonus Available
Position Overview
Hopi Health Care Center is seeking experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurses to support safe and continuous emergency care in Polacca, Arizona.
HHCC is a rural, remote, Joint Commission-accredited Critical Access Hospital and the only healthcare facility on the Hopi Reservation. ED nurses must be comfortable practicing in a limited-resource, transfer-dependent environment and caring for patients across the lifespan and across a wide range of acuity levels.
This opportunity is best suited for experienced ED nurses who are clinically confident, adaptable, collaborative, culturally responsive, and comfortable working with greater independence in a rural environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program. Diploma, associate, bachelor's, graduate degree, or other qualifying nursing education acceptable to HHCC and applicable licensing requirements are accepted.
- Hold a current, active, full and unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
- Have a minimum of 2 years of RN experience
. - Have at least 2 years of Emergency Department experience
. - Maintain current BLS certification.
- Maintain current ACLS certification.
- Maintain current PALS certification.
- Be capable of providing emergency nursing care to neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as applicable to the ED setting.
- Be able to work effectively in a rural Critical Access Hospital, transfer-dependent, limited-resource and Tribal healthcare environment.
Preferred
TNCC — Trauma Nursing Core Course is preferred/recommended unless subsequently required by the applicable task order or HHCC facility policy.
Prior rural, Critical Access Hospital, IHS, Tribal, federal or similarly limited-resource ED experience may make a candidate particularly well suited to this assignment.
Schedule & Coverage
HHCC's Emergency Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
. Scheduling may include:
- Day shifts
- Night shifts
- Holidays
- Urgent coverage
Actual schedules are determined by authorized task orders and HHCC operational needs.
Cultural & Community Expectations
Nurses must provide respectful, patient-centered and culturally responsive care within HHCC's rural Tribal healthcare environment.
Candidates should be prepared to communicate respectfully with patients and families, use interpreter services when appropriate, and participate in HHCC cultural orientation, which may include a Hopi cultural overview.
Onboarding Requirements

Before independent clinical performance, the nurse must successfully complete all applicable:
- Security and suitability requirements
- Facility orientation
- ED competency validation
- Badging
- EHR access and training
- Facility onboarding
- Additional HHCC/IHS requirements
Urgent staffing needs do not waive these requirements.
Candidate Documentation
Qualified candidates should be prepared to provide:
- Current resume/CV with month/year work history
- Current unrestricted RN license and applicable disclosures
- BLS, ACLS and PALS documentation
- TNCC documentation, if held
- Prior HHCC, IHS, HHS, federal, Tribal or comparable clearance/onboarding history, if applicable
- Availability for the proposed coverage period
- Additional documentation required for security, suitability, orientation, competency validation, badging, EHR access or facility approval
Candidates must also acknowledge HHCC's rural location and lodging limitations.
