Where You Will WorkLocated approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open‑pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, a crushed‑ore leach pad and stacking system, a low‑grade ROM leaching system, four SX plants, and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

DescriptionHighly skilled employees in the mechanical maintenance craft who apply a broad level of process and mechanical/maintenance knowledge to maximize and, where possible, improve the efficiency of the overall production process. Among these workers are machinists, heavy machinery mechanics, skilled automotive technicians, certified welders, pump rebuild mechanics and specialized maintenance mechanic personnel. The employee will work autonomously under required supervision where the primary objective is safe production.
- Perform routine and non‑routine maintenance activities
- Complete Work Orders and other maintenance documentation
- Ability to repair, install, fabricate, rebuild, and perform preventative maintenance of process equipment such as pumps, conveyors, dryers, gearboxes, filters, etc. Capable of performing equipment lubrication.
- Competent in mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, bearings, conveyor systems, plumbing, alignment, machine shop, and mobile equipment. Qualified to operate small and large cranes and knowledgeable of safe rigging practices.
- Follow and understand MSHA and/or OSHA rules and regulations, Environmental rules and regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and work area instructions, participate in safety and environmental activities, use plant and equipment correctly at all times.
- Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned according to business need.
Minimum Requirements:
- Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
- Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
- Valid State driver’s license with the ability to obtain a CDL certification within 90 days of hire date.
- FPM Diagnostic Mechanic I:
The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while achieving a 35% score on a written assessment where required. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge, as well as safety. Must be able to demonstrate proficient basic welding skills. - HEM Diagnostic Mechanic I:
