The Job at a GlanceAs a Sr. Maintenance Technician, you will be the top level of support for the mechanical systems in our Distribution Center. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot complex problems, and execute mission‑critical repairs on equipment to keep the center fully operational. You will work closely with vendors and internal partners to diagnose issues and perform repairs on a wide range of material handling equipment.
ATypical Day
- Perform advanced preventative maintenance on conveyor systems, including sorters, powered conveyors, truck loaders, and other material handling equipment.
- Diagnose root causes of complex problems using knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and computer‑controlled equipment.
- Perform emergency repairs on the most complex equipment as needed.
- Train level‑2 technicians and apprentices in proper maintenance, repair, and inspection methods.
- Conduct daily visual and auditory inspections of equipment, noting and addressing any issues.
- Perform advanced diagnostic tests and coordinate support activities with third‑party vendors.
- Provide top‑level support for fire/sprinkler systems, standby generators, HVAC equipment, and other critical systems.
- Climb ladders, use forklifts, scissor lifts, saws, drills, and hand tools.
- Partner with the Distribution Center leadership team to understand mission and support operational changes through planning and execution.
- 5+ years of mechanical experience in an automated distribution center environment utilizing powered conveyors, sorters, and other automated material handling equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and computer‑controlled equipment in an industrial setting.
- Ability to perform complex repairs with remote support and read technical manuals and blueprints.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally to other facilities.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (written and verbal).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform 8+ hours of standing, bending, lifting, walking, and carrying duties.
- Vehicle certification or willingness to become certified.
- Comfortable working in a busy warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
