Maintenance Technician III

To maintain all district facilities in a condition of operating excellence so that full use of them may be made at all times.

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities

To maintain all district facilities in a condition of operating excellence so that full use of them may be made at all times.

Essential Functions
  • Ability to work with outside vendors.
  • Perform facilities maintenance, minor repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the District.
  • Perform needed repairs as assigned, such as troubleshooting and evaluating electrical and mechanical systems including electrical repairs; running electrical wire; maintaining and installing plumbing fixtures including toilets, sinks, lavatories, faucets, valves, pumps, garbage disposals, water heaters, and drinking fountains; installing piping systems; deliver supplies, parts and equipment; replace glass; emergency cleanups; installing and repairing locksets, deadbolts, unit locks, and re-keying locks;

    build and repair furniture, cabinets, countertops; paint and/or stain doors, trim, walls, wrought iron, wood metal stucco, block wall, parking lots, gym floors, and shelving by spraying and rolling paint onto prepared surfaces; remove graffiti from concrete, bricks, doors and signs by matching colors and/or priming and repainting areas; repair drywall including taping, texturing, sanding and finishing drywall; minor repairs in buildings and playgrounds;

    inspect buildings and grounds for needed repairs; maintain air handlers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine material and required dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
  • Receive all necessary materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Educational requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent (required).

Experience, area(s) of study, and/or licensure(s):
Valid Arizona driver's license (required); valid fingerprint clearance card (preferred).

knowledge of principles, practices and methods of safety and health as it relates to employees and the public; knowledge of the requirements to maintain job related certificates and/or licenses; skill to effectively manage time to meet operational needs and desired outcomes; skill to identify, recommend, and implement change to maximize efficiency; skill to read and comprehend job related materials and documents.

Physical

Activities and Visual Acuity

Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The physical activities include: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions.

The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
