SUD Coordinator
Under general direction, performs enhanced inmate services and release coordination for those with SUD (Substance Use Disorder), inmates with co-occurring disorders high needs due to substance use or co-occurring disorders. Performs special projects and programs as directed by the Sheriff or command staff as designated.
The position is currently a temporary grant-funded position. This position will be required to pursue future grant opportunities in an effort to keep the position funded. The Navajo County policy and procedures provides the following terms for grant-funded positions:
Grant-funded positions may be regular or temporary and may be full-time or part-time. These status issues will be determined individually with each position, based on terms specified in the grant. Regular full-time and eligible part-time grant-funded positions will have all of the same benefits as regular positions funded by the County. If the grant funding is canceled for any reason, the position is automatically eliminated and the employee is laid off.
The layoff is effective no later than the date the grant funds are exhausted. Grant-funded positions may be classified or unclassified depending upon the appropriate criteria as stated in Section 1.53.

- Prepare departmental or other reports as required.
- Oversee all contracted services, data collection, and reporting requirements and ensures programs comply with all Federal, State and County guidelines.
- Oversees in-custody SUD treatment program and provides security screenings and release planning for program participants.
- Provides programming for inmates
- Trains staff for in-custody treatment program.
- Advocate for inmates with SUD and co-occurring disorders.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and justice stakeholders to compile information to better identify treatment options and provide service linkage for inmates with SUD and/or co-occurring disorder upon release.
- Coordinate with the courts and criminal justice partners to ensure all court appointments and obligations are met. Assist the courts in establishing release conditions that include inpatient and/or outpatient SUD and/or behavioral health services, as dictated by a treatment plan
- Interface and coordinate with Detention personnel regarding the facilitation of services for inmates with SUD.
- Attend community meetings coordinating the programs available through the Sheriff's Office.
- Work directly with inmates and staff to ensure Reentry Services are being delivered and makes program improvements.

- Maintain confidentiality of all work-related issues, records and restricted information.
- Collaborate with third parties, court personnel, and other criminal justice and behavioral health partners.
- Commitment to confidentiality, equity, and trauma-informed approaches in all client interactions.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality in all interactions, documentation and information sharing. Maintain confidentiality of all work-related issues, records and restricted information.
